FOOD PARCELS

Siphila Sonke Siphila Sonke currently distributes on average 60 food parcels each month to individuals, both adults and children, who are vulnerable, needy and/or chronically ill and who live in a household that is not receiving any income.

HOME VISITS

Siphila Sonke Fieldworkers visit all Beneficiaries in their homes, two or three times a month, to monitor their progress and circumstances. If required, additional visits will be made during the month, such as when Beneficiaries are very ill or need additional help.

SUPPORT GROUPS

Siphila Sonke runs 3 Support Groups for our Food Parcel Beneficiaries who are chronically ill with HIV AIDS or TB, but who are well enough to participate. Currently, the 3 Support Groups are Vegetable Gardening, Beading and Crafting as well as Sewing..

kids club

KID’S CLUB

Siphila Sonke‘s Kids Club is for children between the ages of 6 and 13 years (grades 1 – 7) and is held at Siphila Sonke’s premises at the Imizamo United Church every afternoon. There is a set activity for each day: Monday – English Literacy and Reading; Tuesday – Art and Craft; Wednesday – Life Skills, Games and Entertainment; Thursday – Maths and Numeracy and Friday – Library Hour and Activities.  Since the beginning of 2016, after generous funding, we have been able to include computer based training using CAMI Educational software as part of our activities.

OTHER ASSISTANCE

Siphila Sonke tries to support it’s beneficiaries in whatever way it can. Some of the other assistance includes: Helping beneficiaries to apply for ID documents and any relevant government grants; providing suitable second-hand clothing; assisting with waterproofing for shacks….
